A boy fallen from the sky awakes on a nightly beach, before joining a festival, as if guided by a presence.
STORY
The Star
The boy awakes half asleep, sky diving, surrounded by a blueish trail of tendrils like fire of an unreal glow. He is falling into the sky, in the middle of a meteor shower / rain of falling stars, tainted with the same skyblue.
Down bellow we can see a dark ocean, lighten by a starry night sky, soon to be illuminated by this meteor shower / rain of meteors. Le boy in his sky fall finally lands in the sea, near the coast. He gets carried back by the waves half unconscious, or tries to swim as much as his state allows to reach the beach. Once on the beach he pulls himself onshore enough to be safe from drowning, before losing consciousness.
The Hill
The boy regains consciousness on the beach along the coast. Face down in the sand, legs still in the water. Its still dark, and the clear sky illuminates the landscape down below with its starry vault.
As he gets up he notices a strange glow coming from behind a hill in the distance, beyond the beach. He crosses and leaves the beach, going from sand to stone paths, before setting foot on a grassy ground, and starts walking in direction of this hill to see where this diffuse light, reflected in humid air, comes from.
On the top, from the the other side of the hill, we can see an undulated slope covered in grass, with somes trees and a grove on the side, as well as other elevations and smaller hills all around. The boy finds himself in the middle of the hills and trees, walking down the slopy terrain with the dark trees casting shadows, still unsure of where hes going.
Untill he percieves the source of this diffuse light. And this light of pink purple glow, seems to fluctuate on the rhythm of organic pulses. It comes from what look like glowing silkworm like caterpillar larvae, some large glowing and translucent larvae hanged in silky cocoons floating in the hair, light giant lanterns. These large caterpillar larvae come in various sizes, most larger than a human being, entirely purple skinned and covered with glowing blue spikes. These larvae emit and diffuse a pale pink light with blueish shades in the air.
Volatile silk strings float here and there, carried by the coastal breeze and the humid air. These filaments of glowing colored silk undulate in the air like ribbons in the night.
The boy goes deeper down the hills in the middle of this colorfull and soundless spectacle, the the point of being almost blinded by these dancing lights, that seemed distant a first. Trying not to get to close nor in contact with these creatures whose presence does not reassure him at all. The boys descends carefully but ends up stumbling head first down the slope.
He finally arrives down the hill.
The Festival
Down the hill, beyond the trees. We can see warmer lights, with human activity in the distance. Among the trees, we can distinguish blurry shapes coming and going. It is a sort of festival down there in a village not far behind the grove. This village in the middle of the hills seems to be home to only a few hundred inhabitants.
The boy advances slowly, and little by little we can see some stalls and attractions akin to an oriental festival. We also see colorful lanterns hanged in the trees along cables. Among the silhouettes we can see people with animal like masks of faces wearing kimonos.
The boy stays hidden for now, but he hears some voices among the silhouettes passing by. Apparently this would be a festival combining a celebration around the shooting stars and silk strings whose ribbons are used to make lanterns in the shape of comets, on the occasion of this event. However there is mention of a strange custom in this festival, where people are imprisoned in cocoons hanged in trees, these special silk cocoons supposedly have healing properties.
Strangely the boy stays in the distance from people nearby, after all he doesnt know anything about this world. And above all, he has no idea what hes doing here.
Until the sound of rocketing fireworks draws his attention to the sky. Unfortunately due to his vision still atuned to the dark from the hills and the hypnotic glow of the larvae, he is blinded by the fireworks blast. And cant regain sight for several hours.
He wanders blindly like a lost person near the festival, and unknowingly makes his way towards the village.
The Presence
Around the village, we can see the boy wandering around as if looking for his way. He passes a street and and arrives in a fenced dead end, near a sort of ancient railway line with footbridges down a slope canal.
Finally he finds refuge in and ancient maintenance tunnel, after having found its entrance by lifting or opening a metallic plate or trapdoor blocking the entrance of the tunnel leading to this old resupply chamber. This underground place serves him as temporary hideout or hiding place under the railway. The boy hides for a while and tries to recover, still sleepy and disoriented, occasionally awakened by the sound of trains passing at night.
We see a girl at the festival, who seems to have felt a strange presence. The girl feels or sense it (him ? the boy fallen from the sky ?). She doesnt really know what this is. She feels like something has changed in the air.
She is at this festival with other people, and because of what she felt, we see her moving away, as if going to look for it (him ?).
